( ? ) you can get ether one read some Please
PRIVACY You don't share your phone wires with
your the house next door .Remember
cable is only one wire that has a shared pipe or line
.Your regular old phone line with ultra high frequency is yours
private pipe or line from end to end. The best !
Web Hosting
and single server Mass Virtual hosting is only on DSL not on cable. You
can not have a ISP type service on cable . Under current
terms you are not allowed to post DNS on your home or
office system on Cable. See if your local provides you
this service for you our you can do it yourself ? The
answer is "no". Hosting at your home or business
is a must for starting company's .
Flexibility
We have increased our band width and decreased our bandwidth. They were completed
in good time with great flexibility. DSL is the true winner for office use on
internet servers. On cable the speed is always good
"in optimum conditions" but
not flexible . Small business's at office or home can
greatly benefit from this advantage . DSL package's
offer 144/1.0 144/1.5
DSL's
router's advantages are greater than cables because it uses
one transport protocol type ( Ethernet ) Cable uses
two transport protocols Vs DSL one protocol . DSL uses primarily
a static IP addressing
system giving 1-5 1-10 1-32 1-64 and up . Dynamic is more secure as
each individual router is the physical gateway that
rotates its SINGLE IP address . Cable is often large groups
of IP's all assigned to the same
gateway .This creates a bottle neck for the whole system.
Static IP's
Address
1 to 255 DSL routers can be programmed with up to 255 addresses, where as a cable modem can only be
addressed with one IP address on a Dynamic DHCP addressing
system. This is a severe limitation for
any one who needs more than one IP's.
A cable modems IP will change so it is NOT static no
matter what anybody says DSL your IP never changes
That is a static Address . DSL packages have from
255/128/56/13/5 group range IP's address to work
with. This
is a reliability that that is built into the systems
Small Business
Demands
DNS WWW SMTP + a host
of others at your finger tip's . We you have the
server a your home or company's office. This will provide you
"a
starting new company" The edge you need for
a constant web exposure at very mane gable prices .
This offers a accelerated leap onto the internet .
This is the
Physical machine that will answer your companies name or
IP number or domain name. This can be
a PC with front page server, all the way up to a Linux/NT one's like I
use in my studies . A main aspect of an internet sever is
"DNS" Domain Name Server SMTP simple mail
transport post office, and web services which are very costly to those who have
to deal with it on a large and small scale. This is one example of DNS savings. With this
DSL and a Linux or NT operating systems you can setup a domain for $35.00 with your
IP number.
$70.00 is the normal fee for registering without a permanent
IP address. In 15 minutes
from your home you can register domains with www.networksolutions.com
. That is a $100.00 savings alone on one service. After your domain is online you will have
total control of that important service. Changes anytime !
Redundancy DSL placed
in the hands of the phone companies of America, have a far greater advantage of
giving a dedicated band width through their switching systems with optic fiber backbones.
Examples of DSL systems below.
Cables which are on a shared
redundant OC3 backbones using older TCP/IP (10 base T) methods for transfer of data rather
than over newer and faster proven category 5 systems ; there is no comparison to a 100mip
systems. ( twisted pair).
Category 5 systems and DSL are
integrated into the local phone companies systems now. Category 5 systems are LAN (local
area network) 10 up to 100 megs. You might work at a firm or office that use's a LAN for all
it computers and if its not cable, its upgraded to category 5 90% better.
You are a
ISP at that point ! Total internet control. You can
setup your home office and manage your websites even
have your own Email server .You can add as many
customers&friends Email accounts as you
like.
With one phone line, I can host as
many domains as the bandwidth can support and when I
have grown my DSL lines will grow with me all the way
up to OC3 . Cable will not permit you to set to any ISP
type futures . Though Cable has added some very nice
speed packages so you can get a 1.5/128 or a 768/128
at very good prices.
DSL will
give you the freedom to expand as you need it with minimal upgrade cost, which are applied to
your phone bill. You pay for dedicated speed and
you get it and it is even "guarantied"
Combined
Bandwidth
If I add another
DSL in to my home/office these two lines can be combined to give guaranteed additional band
width. Example: 1.5+1.5 = 3 million bits per second of guaranteed band width.
Compared to cables 128k max upload and ???? download
no combining of Cable connections will increases your
speeds but with DSL this is a reality you can get that
combination what ever the speed "guaranteed or
your money back in some cases".
Some History
The technology for eight wires (cat5
system) is the best the world has seen yet for data
transfer over copper wires. DSL has used this
same technology in two wires to get almost
6 megs per second in a single twisted pair . Just ask UCLA
N.A.S.A. or JPL or MIT and many others why they will say
it is the best after all it was there devolvement and
dedication to this for N.A.S.A. The average T1 line in this study was $209.00 to
$425.00. Phone companies can provide redundant systems 1000 times that of any cable .
Why because your phone wire are yours. from your home all the way to the first main switching
unit for distribution or dedicated nodes that are assigned to you !. Lots of dishonest people
STEAL or TAP IN on cable. This does not happen on phone lines today. ATM ( automatic teller
machines) are run by phone companies not cable companies
. We use a HDSL 6 wire.
HDSL (High
Bit/Data-Rate DSL): Symmetric (same speed
download/upload: 1.54Mbps) Uses two copper
twisted-pair lines. A replacement for T1/E1
repeater systems, due to the equivalent speed.
Also originally designed for video data. No
compression, and less fault tolerance. (A faster
version uses 3 twisted pairs, and HDSL-2 uses only
1 pair.)
http://www.more.net/consulting/network_diagrams.html
DSL is often referred to as twisted
pair Two wires. This means that one line is listening TR (transmit receive) to the other talk
TX (transmit send) and talk TX is sending to one that is listening TR
. Cable is coax 10base T
with one wire with a shield that is not used in data transfer this means that one wire has two
jobs TR and TX and with a fluctuating speeds and errors . So what is the differences in
speed twisted pair can send 100 megs a second 10base T is 10 megs a second no matter how hard
the cable company's try to send up to 900Mhz in a line that is a mismatch at 75ohm. It
should be 50ohm minimum cable for data to be efficient and reliable. Cable companies
need to agree on a modem or router that does not have an open ended speed to remove some of
the immediate fluctuation occurring on cable systems today. If cable companies want the
answers for the currant problems they lye in radio research and FCC archives and Bell
Labs. See network for cable below. Cables limited network
Example's shown here as in use today has its problems its shared.
They are currently splintering the large areas of buss
and ring type cable networks . And one DSL Diagram
"not shared"
This is based on a
private combined study of every "cost effective" service for office or home use of
servers and PC's that can be maintained at a very low cost and high reliability. Bandwidth
that can be modified as needed . All services mentioned in this this article will be
re-visited on 10-3-01 for current updates in this study.
UPDATE
.........................10/06/01..................................................................
change's in
favor of cable hardware and vendors are making great advancements. They are so different in
performance from the quest to find a answer to the giant
systems main problem the all in one ( single gateway)
When they finely figure out how to splinter out large
groups in each area that will be a fine start this
will give more privacy and reliability . answers a
abound in this students head . Here's One type of modem/router is the 3com their in front in my studies there router is
three times faster for Cable than other Brands currently available.
Cable companies will
still need to create a closed circuit environment for 10 bases-T type of data transfers with
uhf, vhf ,digital, analog all mixed together and a industry does not support of standard protocol
in a coax cable in use. Example your PCI card interface is a standard in the mid 80's ISA
was born industrial standard architecture. The manufactures need to come to some standards in the
same way for Cable. 03/00
ON CABLE
Cable
is a high speed access , or for home or office use
we have seen speeds of 4 megs a second their is little
doubt witch one is faster its DSL. With Cable
you have limitations on hosting or relying on a IP that change
.And
as far as the speed goes . you need to be in right place
at the right time I have seen a 128k to 264k averages
to 4Megs . Now lets talk Turkey now its 4Megs down
"but" your will never get over 128k uploads
you are bound at the modem so that means you have a fluctuating
down and a poor uploads.
UPDATE ON PC SHARING there are a
number of very easy to use and very reliable this is a
wonderful advancement in creating user friendly home
network setups so you will need to go the extra mile
to secure your cable connections. Be sure to see the
new net gear and 3com's cable modems and DSL router
with internet sharing all ready built in so you share
a single IP.

- The limitations of the (stock ) router or modem and it's connection to the digital broad band service has been prone to digital lock
up, packet loss, and DNS errors. This technology is in need of improvement over all areas of
reliability. The manufactures of the new types of hardware like these routers/modem provided by
the cable companies should have a common protocol to regulate speed and with the hardware
manufactures so the fluctuations are less frequent and this may be the answer ! Cable is combining
two protocols to complete what DSL does in one ultra high frequency on Twisted pair (your phone
line).
-
- I have used a frequency
counter to see the difficulties on separation of TV & Data by using low pass filters, and high
pass filters, at a point that is very complicated. The point of your wall tap, input wall outlet.
I have made these pass filters by hand for myself in Radio use's from 3Khz' to 1.2
GHz. A signal
generator and 1 digital spectrograph and a frequency counter were used in this study to see first
hand of the problems.

- As Cable technology
grows the need for better equipment will not be met by cable companies nation wide for some time.
Even after they solve the problem of equipment and
venders, they can not make staff of cable
installers to understand how to provide the public with reliable services until a massive
retraining of closed circuit environments takes place,
They will still be battling
guaranteed bandwidth from open ended speed on the modems. A protocol is needed.
In a normal house a TV on
a splitter gets you a slower speed. These splitters need to be redesigned so that as the length of
the cable's increase or decrease will be matched for proper dB lose. and separation of TV and data
- A simple way to improve
any system is to terminate every open outlet with a 75ohm
terminator that will increase the
circuit.
- In one study We watch
this in a house with many out lets and with low signal, this equals poor/ok service. And After 13
month of service this has not improved .
- This study has found that
for all practical purposes, For supplying the public with this Free comparison is to explain
the differences that exist between DSL and Cable. And with the hope that the
push to get
high speed internet access for all people will benefit all the world.
- my studies are a
combination of my education in electrical circuitry micro, fiber, digital
and networking TCP/IP IPX
SPX and net bios applications and its uses. I am also a ham radio operator with a high interest in
all aspects of data in a phone, cable, fiber or airwaves for advancement for all.
I think and believe that
technology will come of age for cable to become competitive with
DSL. My findings are
purely Mathematically based with a 0% tolerance for hype.
My studies are
committed to help both of these two great sources of High speed access. We are currently
looking for one Cable corp. to help implement a new radical network. I also have
Six years of coax based studies behind me. See the new and
advancements CABLE has made. The over all speed of cable
is the best when conditions are right . Cable does have
the capability to be faster than DSL
but it was not the speed it was the reliability
and small business aspects we try to address
in our studies . Here are a few great other sites for Help
and information. Ether one of these services
would provide great high speed enjoyment But it still DSL
that offers small home offices with the mission critical
options that Cable does not supply. I am currently using both cable and
DSL
.
